DBHS Students Share Their Thoughts on Online and in Person Learning<\/h2>\n\n\n

\"\"With Broward County schools beginning to reopen, students have the option to continue on with their online learning, or come back to school with new social distancing and mask regulations.<\/p>\n

While students still have the option to stay home and continue virtual learning, many have different opinions as to if they should continue at home or go to school. Adaption to online learning has proven to be difficult for some students, whereas for others it\u2019s more preferable.<\/p>\n

Freshman Darius Scoot said, \u201clearning face to face gives more communication with the students and the teacher. It’s also easier for the teachers since they can help you without having the trouble of not seeing your screen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Teachers also have to adapt to the new school year, and they also may have different opinions as to which is better. Journalism and English Honors teacher, Mr. Radecki in favor of classroom learning says, \u201cMost students I spoke to prefer the face-to-face learning style. It also helps build rapport between student and teacher.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some people can see how both perspectives can come into play, Kiera Sheehan says classroom learning \u201cis better for socialization and I think it helps people better stay on task. But that\u2019s also why homeschooling\/online is an option nowadays for those who don\u2019t like in person.\u201d This school year has been very adaptive for both students and teachers and it will be stressful for some students but for others it will be seen as easy.<\/p>\n

In a poll where students were asked if they thought online or onsite learning was better, the results were 80% in favor of going to school, saying how they valued the ability to socialize with others and stay on task. While the other 20% said that they were able to stay on task more when at home and like that they can go back and look at past notes.<\/p>\n\n\n
