Students will be required and expected to bring their reusable water bottles to school.<\/p>\n<p>Broward County has installed at least three water bottle filling stations on every school campus in the county as of November 23, 2020. These stations are put in place to allow students and staff to refill their reusable water bottles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;m glad they added the water filling stations,&#8221; junior Austin Wengrovitz said, &#8220;the stations seem like they are a good step towards becoming a more eco-friendly school.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On average, a person goes through four plastic water bottles per day. Due to the addition of new stations, and schools no longer offering bottled water, there will be a reduction in plastic, which can lead to a healthier environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the water bottle filling stations can help the environment by eliminating the number of plastic bottles students use throughout the day,\u201d senior Gianna Lazo said.<\/p>\n<p>Water fountains tend to be cesspools of bacteria since it is easy for saliva to be transferred onto them. The design of the bottle filling stations ensures minimal contact between the station and the person using it, which can reduce the spread of respiratory droplets and the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe water bottle filling stations might help limit the spread of COVID-19 because a regular water fountain is more susceptible to collecting bacteria,\u201d sophomore Selina Srivastava said.<\/p>\n<p>Many are feeling optimistic about the addition of new water bottle filling stations on school campuses throughout Broward County.
