On January 6th, Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol building in Washington DC, and started a riot in which President Donald Trump not only refused to acknowledge as a riot, but also seemed to call for an end to the madness, yet encouraged it with a series of tweets. It is not the actions of the rioters but the actions of how the President handled them that has people all around calling for his removal from office.<\/p>\n
Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, is demanding that President Trump be removed from office using the 25th amendment. She gave Vice President Mike Pence 24 hours to invoke the amendment before calling on Congress asking for impeachment.<\/p>\n
\u201cI joined the Senate Democratic Leader in calling on the vice president to remove this president by immediately invoking the 25th amendment. If the Vice President and cabinet do not, the Congress may be prepared to move forward with impeachment,\u201d Pelosi said Thursday at a press briefing.<\/p>\n
Majority of the people spearheading this movement are members of the Democratic party, but a few are key player Republicans. According to White House correspondent April D. Ryan, a number of people in leadership are joining and supporting the call for his removal.<\/p>\n
Vermont Governor Phil Scott (R) was the first to echo the call for the President to resign on Wednesday after the Capitol Hill riots. He said in a series of tweets \u201cThere is no doubt that the President\u2019s delusion, fabrication, self-interest, and ego have led us here – step by step – to this very low, and very dangerous, moment in American history.\u201d Followed with \u201cPresident Trump should resign or be removed from office by his Cabinet, or by the Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n
Following the riots at Capitol Hill and Donald Trump’s reaction has lost countless supporters including longtime political allies such as Senator Lindsey Graham (R), and Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker (R) ,who both took the opportunity to express their views on the events that occurred recently.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it is important at this point that there be an orderly transition, and that that transition be led by the Vice President,\u201d Baker said during a briefing on Thursday.<\/p>\n
According to Business Insider; President Trump, Pence, and his aides are worried about taking such measures so as to not send the country into more chaos. But his defiance might not be able to stop Trump from losing his title but instead push the Congress towards impeachment.<\/p>\n
President Trump has posted a video on twitter calling for a \u201csmooth transition of power\u201d, the closest he has gotten to publicly acknowledging his loss in this year’s presidential election. In the video he said \u201ctempers must be cooled and calm restored\u201d. This is the latest of the Trump\u2019s administration attempts to handle the criticism and chaos following the Capitol Hill riots.<\/p>\n\n\n
