Despite having a 5-10 record, it’s considered a success because of their inexperienced team. Even with their losses, the girls kept a positive attitude throughout the season. The Lady Bucks opened out the season with an 18-7 loss to Coral Springs High School. They bounced back in the second game, beating the Dillard Panthers 25-2. They went on their first of two-win streaks this year, defeating Miramar High School 24-6. \u201cAt that point in the season, we felt confident, but we knew there were going to be tougher opponents later in the year,\u201d junior right-fielder Caroline Sais said. As every team does in every sport, Deerfield had its flaws throughout the season. Especially with having such a young team, they struggled in various categories. There were many things that they could improve, but two main points stood out to one player. \u201cWe had trouble with communication amongst players and game sense,\u201d senior Lauren Weeden said. \u201cNext year will be tough, because the team is losing a few key seniors, but new players will also come in and hopefully make a difference.\u201d Looking onto next season, the Lady Bucks will only get better. There is a lot of room for improvement and the sky\u2019s the limit for the girls. \u201cI believe next year will be a strong season for the girls, there is so much potential on a very young team,\u201d senior catcher Sophia Gargum said. Any newcomers, including incoming freshman, will improve Deerfield\u2019s team. With this, they can make a deep playoff run next year and going forward.
