The traditions of autumn 

Fall marks the transition from summer to winter as temperatures drop and leaves change color. The season brings harvests of pumpkins, apples, and root vegetables, filling tables with traditional and special dishes. Fall, often referred to as autumn, lasts about 90 days, spanning from September, October and ending in November.

For three months, leaves turn red, yellow, and brown, filling the air and habitat with beautiful views that people enjoy during walks. The season is filled with baked pumpkin pies, often with canned or fresh pumpkin, condensed milk, and spices. It is a beloved tradition in America, with roots in the cultivation of pumpkins in Central America and its introduction to Europe by European explorers. The baked crust and soft filling make it a favorite dessert. 

One of the most popular holidays during the season is Halloween, which has ancient Celtic origins that were later incorporated with Christian traditions, including All Hallows’ Eve. In modern times, Halloween includes trick-or-treating activities. Where people get into their favorite characters by costumes and go door-to-door asking for candy or a treat. Homes are typically decorated with pumpkins and scary characters.

“My favorite thing about fall is the aesthetic of the leaves falling,” Junior Shelsie Escarment said.

Thanksgiving follows the list of festivities, bringing up a special day to give thanks for blessings since 1621. Over the years, it evolved from a harvest and success venture into a national holiday declared by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. Currently, it is an important holiday for families to reunite and express gratitude while they strengthen bonds. Dia de Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, is traditionally celebrated on November 1 and 2, usually depending on the locality. This multi-day holiday is about family and friends gathering to pay respect and remember the people who have passed. People create home altars and prepare food for the dead.

Fall exists all around the world, and it’s the perfect season to participate in activities of apple picking. The function of picking fresh apples at orchards is one of the many fall activities. Visiting the pumpkin patch and carving a pumpkin is also on the list of favorite activities. People usually decorate them with ideas from the internet or pure imagination. Falls characteristics of cool temperatures, changing foliage, and varying weather patterns have a lot of promise in terms of activities, food, and fashion.
