Expectations for the 2025-26 school year

Deerfield Beach High (DBHS) welcomed the Class of 2029 and returning students on August 11, 2025. With the beginning of the school year, it’s vital for students and parents to be aware of the resources and opportunities at DBHS. From clubs to academic programs, now is the time for students to participate in activities that pique their interests and will enrich their high school journey.

The programs at DBHS are designed for a diversity of students. For example, students interested in creative fields may join the Communication Broadcasting Arts (CBA) program, which includes classes such as Digital Design, social media, Photojournalism, Yearbook, TV Production, and more. Many of these courses provide opportunities for students to become certified in Photoshop, Project Management Institute (PMI), Illustrator, and Premiere, skills that are valuable to employers after graduation. Additionally, several CBA classes are student-led, allowing participants to develop leadership skills.

“My favorite part about CBA is that it’s preparing me for my future career involving video and photo editing”, DBHS Junior Xyler Christy said, “I now have a certification Photoshop and Premiere Pro.”

The International Baccalaureate (IB) program provides a rigorous curriculum, with a globally recognized diploma to students who complete its requirements. The IB curriculum has core academic subjects that aim to prepare students for postsecondary education. DBHS also offers the Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE), developed by the University of Cambridge, for students seeking advanced academic challenges and the opportunity to earn college credits. Like the Advanced Placement (AP) program administered by the College Board at DBHS, students in both AICE and AP must complete end-of-year examinations to demonstrate subject mastery and qualify for college credit.

“My favorite part of Dual Enrollment is that I get college credit and experience college level class” DBHS Junior Jesus Delgado said.

The Urban Teacher Academy Program (UTAP) at DBHS is for students interested in pursuing careers in education. The program includes a comprehensive curriculum and provides field experience. Students seeking to earn both college and high school credits may participate in dual enrollment, which is available through institutions such as Florida International University, Broward College, and Atlanta Technical College. Additionally, DBHS offers an on-site Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course in partnership with Barry University for students interested in healthcare professions and emergency response.

DBHS Senior Highphmine Saintilme said, “being able to see other perspectives of teaching and how it gives me opportunities to be free and express my ideas, is my favorite part of the UTAP program.”

“My favorite part of Dual Enrollment is that I get college credit and experience college level class” DBHS Junior Jesus Delgado said.

Students at DBHS can consult with their counselors to obtain information about program eligibility requirements. DBHS also offers a wide range of after-school activities for students seeking extracurricular involvement, including band, language clubs, mathematics club, National Honor Society, MCJROTC drill team, athletics, student government, and more. These diverse organizations allow students the opportunity to enrich their high school experience.
