Spider-Man: No Way Home returns with familiar characters
A week before Christmas Eve, Spider-Man: No Way Home (PG-13) will premiere in theaters on Friday, December 17, 2021. As many fans have waited, the friendly neighborhood hero is back on a new adventure, and this time his superhero life crashes with his ordinary life.
Peter Parker (Tom Holland), Spider-Man’s true identity, has been exposed to the whole world due to the events in the previous film Spider-Man: Far from Home.
His world becomes more dangerous for him and his friends and family. He goes to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for help in recovering his identity. While the spell was being performed, something went wrong and caused an opening in their universe. Doctor Strange releases the villains that have fought Spider-Man from other universes into this universe.
On November 16, 2021, Marvel released the official trailer that featured the villains appearing in the film. These villains are familiar from the other earlier Spider-Man movies. The trailer features the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Doctor Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), and Electro (Jaime Foxx). Other villains such as the Sandman and the Lizard might also appear to join in on the fight with Spider-Man.
Director John Watt, director of the previous two Spider-Man films, has created the third installment exposing the audience to another multi-verse related matter. The millions of different universes that exist have different storylines and events that, if messed with, will have dire consequences. As shown in the trailer, the results of messing with the multi-universe are dangerous, and Peter Parker will face dangers far threatening than previous opponents. The MCU has been focusing on the multi-verse as part of the plans for the MCU franchise.
Movie fans who have watched the previous Spider-Man films have been making theories on the events that will unfold in the storyline and who will make a surprise appearance. One of the most common theories is that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, the two earlier Spier-Man actors, will appear in this upcoming film.
“I think that on the bridge scene, all three Spider-Man are going to be there, and they’re [going to] capture Doc Ock,” freshmen Sardis Canpodonico said.
Many people have their minds set on the idea that the three Spider-Man will meet and fight together. The trailer determines the relationship between the hero and the villains.
“Doc Ock mentioned, ‘oh you’re not my Peter’, ” freshmen Noah Noel said.
The return of familiar characters and actors may bring forth nostalgic feelings. With the hero challenged in multiple ways, the film will have the audience gripping their seats in the action-adventure for this holiday season.
