The Communications/Broadcast Arts Program focuses on the many methods employed in the communication of ideas including text, graphics, audio and video. Students enjoy the use of a professional on-campus television studio, state of the art recording studios, remote cameras, nonlinear video editing, digital video and still cameras, and a comprehensive computer graphics and web design lab to complete academic and extracurricular projects. Students interested in television and radio production, newspaper journalism, digital media and web design, computer graphics, advertising, or public relations will find this program an excellent choice.

Academic Requirements

Acceptance into a Magnet Program for high school students is based on academic performance. Exceptional education students with disabilities must meet magnet school entry requirements that will ensure the student’s success in the magnet program. English Language Learners (E.L.L.) must have F.A.S.T. or nationally standardized test scores in reading and/or mathematics and the G.P.A. as required criteria for specific magnet programs as described in Policy.

For all high school programs, unless otherwise noted, there is a review process for students who do not meet the following established entrance criteria for the Communications/Broadcast Arts Magnet Program:

• Unweighted G.P.A. – 2.5 or greater

• F.A.S.T. P.M. 3 score (E.L.A. & Math) – Level 3 or greater

Application Process

Applications to the C.B.A. program are being accepted December 2, 2024 – January 21, 2025. Contact the Communications/Broadcast Arts Magnet Office for more information on how to apply at 754.322.0672.
