GDC Festival of gaming
Between March 9-13, 2026, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA, one of the biggest gaming festivals is taking place. The GDC festival is a place where gamers from all parts of the world come together for a 5-day festival designed to show how games are made today.
The history of GDC dates to 1988, when a small group of game developers met in a living room to discuss shared curiosity and problem-solving. During the 90s and early 200s GDC took on the global stage, it became a technical learning environment, and during this time, they also introduced the Game Developers Choice Awards. Since then, GDC has become a powerhouse of entertainment where not just game developers, but the entire B2B ecosystem comes to learn.
The B2B goes back to the 1800s. It is a marketing system that first got its roots with industrial magazines. Its main purpose is to communicate products and services and to motivate people to learn about the products/services and to push that interest towards purchase. In 2003, B2B launched B2B iGaming, which provides the technology infrastructure for businesses to launch their own gaming platforms. The B2B ecosystem includes many types of people and jobs, for example, data scientists, product managers, compliance specialists, digital marketers, and so much more. This entire ecosystem is invited to attend the GDC gaming festival.
The festival itself is a 5-day Program that consists of the following: the full lifecycle coverage, which is day 1, where they start with brainstorming innovative ideas and move towards global launches. Day 2 is networking across the industry. This is the crucial step where connections and networking are built with developers, designers, producers, marketers, and investors. Day 3: Learn from the experts; these are sessions made by the GDC advisory board. Day 4 Hands-on collaboration, this is an interactive session, formats, and summits to develop real exchange and practical takeaways. Last, day 5 “tailored to you” on the last day separates sessions that are held for every role, the host content for coders, artists, team leads, etc.
“GDC is a wonderful opportunity for those in the gaming industry to learn from each other and sharpen their skills”, said Junior Abigail Payne.
Overall, GDC is a significant opportunity for those in the gaming industry to meet and get together, collaborate, network, and problem-solve to produce the next big games of the generation. That is their mission.
