2024 Track & Field season begins
The 2023-2024 track and field season has begun with the first season-opening meet at Coral Springs High School.
Throughout the year, new and returning track and field athletes have been diligently training and working hard to prepare for this season. The sport requires mental strength to stay focused, block out any other distractions, and keep their stamina at a good pace.
In addition to their work in the field, it’s also important to maintain academic integrity while still trying their best in the meets.
Deerfield Beach High School senior, Larissa Francois, is known as a star player and veteran on the track and field team. Francois has previously competed at the state level and is ready to compete this season and return to state competition with her primary goal to win it all.
“This year I am more in tune with my body…my coach is more prepared heading into this upcoming season and also heading into states,” said Francois.
A remarkable player to mention is DBHS junior, Jaxson Jewell, who placed 1st in the 400-meter dash twice in the last three weeks.
One newcomer to the team is a DBHS freshman, Lauren Miller. Her events are the long jump, 4×1, 4×2, and 4×4 relays. When asked about her goals for this upcoming season, Lauren replied, “My goal for this upcoming season is to set new personal records, work hard, and give it my all.”
Track and field Deerfield Beach Bucks are eager and looking forward to this season and ready to dominate the track once again. Cheer on and support the Bucks track and field team as they cross the finish line.
