Deerfield’s Homecoming Experience

All about the fun night

Homecoming is one of the yearly highlights at Deerfield Beach High School. It’s a special tradition where alumni visit, and students now come together to celebrate their Buck Pride. This year’s homecoming was full of spirit and enthusiasm, with a lively spirit week, pep rally, and much-awaited homecoming football game.

Spirit week was fun and imaginative as students attended dressed up for different theme days representing their own personality and school spirit. The pep rally had the whole student body coming together to the gym, where the dance team, band, and cheerleaders got the crowd pumped for the big show, the big game. Laughter and cheering and school spirit filled the air.

Maybe the best part of homecoming was finding out the homecoming court. Students campaigned ardently for a spot, creating bright and eye-catching posters and crafting clever slogans to persuade their classmates to vote for them. Such a determined pupil was Adaisha Mack, a hardworking and forceful junior. Adaisha showed true courage by throwing her hat into the ring to be on homecoming court and spent countless hours building her campaign signs. She carefully picked out fonts and pictures that would stand out and show school spirit. Her dedication and hard work paid off as she was crowned Miss Junior, showing off her class pride with the inspirational quote, “Crowned with pride powered by school spirit.”

The homecoming football game against McArthur High was another week’s highlight. Although Deerfield Beach experienced a hard loss, the event was still exciting and pride-inducing. The Mighty Marching Bucks band performed an amazing show, along with the cheerleaders and Elite Beauties Auxiliary team, who all performed for the crowd. The highlight was the halftime performance, and an incredible post-game tunnel show was provided by the Cush Creators Percussion group to conclude the evening.

This year’s homecoming reminded everyone what it is to be a Buck, from pride to passion to being united. Deerfield Beach High continues to treasure its alumni and celebrate its students, keeping its spirit high year after year.
