Driver’s Education in Summer
This summer, high school students in Broward County have the chance to attend Driver’s Education classes. For two months, they can finish this course in their own time with 18-day sessions. By the time the 2022-2023 school year comes into sight, permits/licenses are acquired, and students can practice driving. Which is just one of the most important things Driver’s Ed accomplishes.
Every student must be at least 15 years old by the beginning of the first-class session. Only current students are allowed to take Driver’s Education classes. If a student graduates or withdraws from high school before the start date of a session, they are no longer eligible to take part in the program.
To those who are eligible for the program, the DELAP program includes a Permit Test as well as a Driver’s License Test. Students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the class. Driver’s Ed also offers the Drug and Alcohol Class course within its curriculum. For the Drug & Alcohol Class to count, the student must test while enrolled in the Driver’s Ed Course.
Registered students will take the course at Deerfield Beach High School, not virtually. There are other high schools that offer this course including Boyd Anderson, Coral Glades, Coral Springs, Cypress Bay, Everglades, McArthur, Northeast, and Plantation.
There is a 3 Week Course running from Monday to Thursday during the summer. Each class lasts four hours and includes two hours of classroom instruction and two hours of driving. There is a maximum of one missed class per student.
Students will also be allowed to drive around the campus as a part of these classes. The registration date for sessions one and two begins on June 8th at 8:00 a.m., and the first session begins on June 20th to July 7th, excluding July 4. The second session begins on July 11th and runs through July 28. Classes begin at 1:00 pm and end at 5:00 pm.
