Expression Through Art

Deerfield’s Buck’s Talent Displayed

The art show of Deerfield Beach High School opens on March 15th. Multiple students will have their hand-picked art displayed at the showcase. Administration and families of students are allowed to attend the event, where the students will be recognized for their hard work.

The Deerfield Beach High Art Department put this display together, which all students will have the opportunity to visit on March 16th. Students featured in the show have been working on these projects for over a year, making the tribute well-deserved and very special.

The students have been conceiving draft after draft of their artwork since September. After several modifications, the artists have felt exceedingly more confident in their pieces. The teachers of the Art Department were able to give critiques and encourage their students.

“They’re in a process of revision, which is stressed in the program,” art teacher Tracy Sachs said. “You’ll see multiple pieces of the same work from the same student.”

Even more, the students are allowed to branch out and try many unique styles of art. Sachs noticed multiple digital pieces, which she finds very impressive. This stylized project shows that not all art is traditional. The goal of the Art Show is to display the teens’ uniqueness and talent.

Dreanisha Prospere, a junior, will have her artwork “Quiet Waters” displayed. It’s a piece of a swamp with water lilies and trees in the background with copious amounts of detail. While looking at other artworks of her peers, she was able to find inspiration and better her work off of that.

“I definitely would be open to trying new techniques and styles,” she said. “I know the standards now, and I am excited to work hard to get into the showcase next year.”

This display of art is extremely beneficial for the students. It inspires them to try new styles and experiment with various mediums. Having access to teachers that will guide them and expose them to unexplored avenues furthers students’ artistic prowess.
