Feel The art

The Human Way Of Expression
For years, art has changed meaning. Art is the expression of human creative skill and, to some, an outlet to express their fears, past, identity, or mindset. From a once colorful painting locked away in a museum, up to interpretation without knowing the intended meaning of the deceased artist, to a poem on crinkled paper expressing what the world once meant to a pen that no longer writes, art has changed meaning.
“There is always a way to make yourself feel like yourself. Music, art, writing, humans found forms of expression for a reason; it’s good to use them,” said Deerfield Beach High School sophomore Sarah Parrish.
From Edgar Allan Poe to Ivan Kramskoy, art of all kinds has been a way for people to express themselves and to find ways to connect with others who find themselves feeling the same way; films are no exception. Many films were made to express a person or feeling. Films, like any painting or poem, can capture the thinking of the creator and bring it to life; movies like The Perks of Being a Wallflower, I Saw The TV Glow, Joe the King, and others are some films that people often find themselves connecting to, due to the message and meaning the director put in it, a message they also tend to resonate with.
“It’s hard to imagine a world without the concept of art; art made the structure of the world as we know it today,” said DBHS junior Brianna Barton. “Without art, we would not have buildings, music, classical literature- none of that would exist, and we would not be where we are now.”
Even dances are a form of expression. Traditional dances, such as the ballet Swan Lake, have a meaning that many resonate with. Along with dance is music, it is not to say every piece of entertainment has a deeper meaning, but a handful do. Artists, especially those who work with songwriting, tend to pour their emotions into their lyrics and performances.
Art is therapeutic, regardless of the type. It is something people use to show off a piece of themselves they might not be able to parade around. Art is an expression of emotions, feelings, and thinking, there is hardly a wrong way to do it. If it feels right, that’s all that matters or should matter to the creator.
