Upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s movie
Late at night, the sign of a restaurant flickers in the darkness, as mysterious figures walk around. Silence falls over the restaurant as a car pulls into the parking lot. A man and his sister stop in front of the building, looking up at the sign that reads “Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.” The Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) series of video games is well-known for its theories and lore, and now a new FNAF movie is on the horizon. This popular game-turned-movie will feature the six most recognizable animatronics, Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Cupcake, and Springtrap.
The first game, Five Nights at Freddy’s, was released on August 8th, 2014, and was considered the pinnacle of horror games for some time. The fanbase loved the game so much that the creators released a second game only two months later. What was once a meager indie game has now skyrocketed with immense popularity. This game came out during the peak of YouTube and has been played by many YouTubers who are now famous with the help of FNAF, which in turn helped the game reach more people. It revolutionized the horror genre of video games. Even now, many want new games to be released soon from this franchise.
The main cast includes Josh Hutcherson as Mike Schmidt, Elizabeth Lail as Vanessa Monroe, and Piper Rubio as Abby Schmidt. YouTuber Cory DeVante Williams, better known as CoryxKenshin, made an appearance in the last few moments of the trailer. He is a very well-known and famous YouTuber. He is known for his impeccable gaming skills and funny personality when playing horror games. FNAF is one of the games that helped him reach the top, as he has over 17 million subscribers and over seven billion views in total. Fans of him who have seen the trailer were emotional because they know how much FNAF means to him and his channel.
Five Nights at Freddy’s starts with a young man named Mike Schmidt who was hired to be the night guard for the run-down pizzeria, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. The catch is that the animatronics that were built as entertainment for children are secretly evil machines with minds of their own. Mike Schmidt has to survive the nights guarding the pizzeria while learning more about the lore behind animatronics.
Another important character is William Afton. Afton is the man who created the animatronics and opened the restaurant. Fans are excited to learn more about his story. They are depicted as flashbacks in the trailer with many important characters.
“I am extremely excited to see the new Five Nights at Freddy’s movie and to see William Afton’s Character and backstory. I think I will enjoy it a lot and believe it will be very nostalgic. I have my hopes extremely high and believe that his backstory will be thrilling and interesting for me to watch,” said Deerfield Beach High School freshman Gustavo Dos Santos.
Overall, 13 games have been released. FNAF has performed very well with five spinoffs and eight main series games. It has become so popular that several books were produced. Fans are excited that the movie will cover the first game and possibly more. The Five Nights at Freddy’s movie is set to release on October 27th, 2023. Many people plan to visit theaters to watch what they believe will be a masterpiece. Just like the Barbie movie, where people wore pink, and Oppenheimer, where people wore black, fans plan to dress like the characters in the movie or wear their FNAF merchandise.
“I grew up with the FNAF franchise so, I’m excited to see it. I think the movie theater is going to be packed,” said DBHS freshman Giovanni Mendez.
Some people enjoy the thrill, others are drawn to the lore, and some are looking for Easter eggs. Regardless, this journey of a security guard will captivate the audience, with an anticipated storyline that covers some of William Afton’s backstory.
Will this movie live up to the hype, or will it fall victim to the live-action trend that has seemed to ruin many good movies? Fans can only hope and pray as the cast continues to promote the FNAF movie for its release in October, right around Halloween. The film is foreshadowed to sell out of theaters, so grab a flashlight and start roaming through Five Nights at Freddy’s.
