Parenting courses and how they can help
While many think about their careers and job in the years ahead, others have their minds set on settling down with their loving spouse and potential children. Whether it is a prompt decision to conceive an infant or not, it’s always best to be prepared and know what to do in an emergency.
There are instances where one may end up with a child but not have an idea of what to do or how to care for it properly, which can create multiple problems including but not limited to; neglect, trauma, and an increase in mental and physical health problems. New parents are more than likely to be unprepared for a child and need guidance or tips. Especially young ones who don’t have the support of a parent or guardian. It can cause a lot of stress and negativity.
Parenting takes a lot of responsibility and maturity. Both are skills which some people might not develop enough on time. Even in the nine months, not everyone is ready. It isn’t something someone can learn overnight. It could take up to years to master and perfect. Along with the fact that some people may not have the funds and resources.
Schools can offer these classes, mandatory or optional, that educate the importance of preparation and sincerely help possible early parents more than one would think depending. These courses provide insight into future topics such as divorces, shared parental responsibility, and communication. Although
it may seem like something everyone should already know, it is easier said than done. Some things are more complicated than meets the eye.
“I feel like they should (provide parenting classes in school) because I feel they could narrow it down and be direct with the teachings and talk about emotions and such.” Said DBHS Freshman Dangely Duron.
Although some may not agree with having parenting classes, it’s something worth considering in order to help guardians who may need that advice and help.
