Karim Tarhini leads DBHS’ soccer team
Deerfield Beach High School’s soccer team is led to success under the bright leadership of captain Karim Tarhini. Through trial and error, he has climbed to the top and continues leading his spirited players to victory. Now achieving captaincy, Tarhini plans to take the team to a new year of triumph.
Making the cut was a long and arduous process for Karim, failing to make tryouts in his freshman year and missing his sophomore year tryout due to COVID. However, he persisted and honed his skills until coming close by a hair in junior year. Finally, Karim’s soccer coach recognized his determination and approached him soon after to join the team. Now a senior, he continues practicing and striving to become the best leader he can be.
“As a captain, I have to be the leader, the one who controls my teammates, and the one who calms them down if anything goes wrong,” said Karim Tarhini. “I have to always be on top of my game and a great example to the younger teammates.”
The soccer team is currently undefeated under Karim’s direction, with hopes of remaining that way. He expresses his confidence in the team easily winning districts this season and possibly regionals. Audiences have much to look forward to as the players work hard on triumphing in their next games.
Although the captain’s plans after graduation are undecided, he is most passionate about soccer. His possible pursuit of a career in the sport is left to be determined. However, his heart is set on becoming a valuable asset to Deerfield Beach High School’s soccer team and carrying them to success.
“Soccer means many things to me,” said Tarhini. “It’s a sport that I grew to fall in love with and something I can’t be without. Soccer also helps me fight through hard times and is a sport that brings people together and makes strangers family.”
Bright and accomplished, Karim Tarhini makes a name for himself as a distinguished student at DBHS. Through failure and hardship, he confronted and overcame his setbacks. He learned from his mistakes rather than succumbing to defeat after every tryout. No matter his aspirations for the future, Tarhini is well-equipped to break out in any career with the same vigor and stout he holds today.
