 Life As Santa Clause

 Story of “The Santa Clause”

Celebrating this holiday season, Santa Clause is making his way back into town. Looking back on the trilogy of “The Santa Clause” films. All three films were released from 1994-2006. Casting Tim Allen in all three films as Santa Clause. They are now streaming on Disney+

The films focus on Scott Calvin’s transition to becoming Santa Claus. The sequel presents Scott, who must save his position as Santa Claus 8 years later by marrying Mrs. Clause. In the final movie, Scott meets with the Council of Legendary Figures to figure out how to deal with Jack Frost, who has been jealous about not having a holiday or special occasion in his name.

In the original film, Scott Calvin and his son Charlie find the previous Santa Claus on top of their house. They scare him, making Santa slip off the roof, and he dies. Scott and Charlie find a note that says that if something were to happen to Santa, someone should put on the red coat and continue the job. Reluctantly, Scott puts on the coat and makes him subject to “The Santa Clause,” which makes him responsible for all of Santa’s duties. The reindeer takes Scott and Charlie to the North Pole, and the head elf, Bernard, tells Scott he has 11 months to get all affairs in order before Thanksgiving next year.

Eight years after the events in Lakeside, “The Santa Clause 2” is the sequel in which Scott must deal with another problem: Called the “Mrs. Clause,” he must get married by Christmas Eve. If he does not, he cannot be Santa Claus anymore. Throughout the movie, Scott becomes less like Santa and more like his old body. To find a wife without leaving the North Pole and having someone in charge, Scott and his assistant elf Curtis created a toy version of himself. However, this goes wrong as Toy Santa takes the nice and naughty list too literally and puts every child on the naughty side. While this happens, Scott tries dating but is unsuccessful until the principal of Charlie’s school, Carol, catches his eye.

“The movies definitely put me in the Christmas spirit watching them, I think it’s important for kids to have something to believe in especially before they are exposed to the real world,” said DBHS junior Serena Parsons.

These films are packed with adventure and comedy; it is no doubt that they will still be entertaining even years later. Tim Allen has been known for being in many Christmas movies. These films have been a favorite of many fans as a way to spend their Christmas morning in the cozy air. Allen admitted, “reading the original script, it was a very very bold comedy.”
