Making Emo Dreams Come True, or Not

Everything to Know About the When We Were Young Festival

Nostalgic emo and rock fans were stunned after hearing of a mega-concert promising a lineup of 65 bands. The We Are Young Festival sounds like a dream come true. Although, some believe the fest will be more of a logistical nightmare.

Headlining the event are music sensations of pop-punk Paramore and My Chemical Romance. Additionally, other well-known artists of the early 2000s are scheduled to play. It was originally planned to begin in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 22nd. However, high demand called for additional dates on October 23rd and 29th.

Many fans were shocked to hear that their favorite artists would be returning after years without releasing new music. This festival would also be one of the first times many of them would perform in the same vicinity. The announcement was originally said to have three main stages, with thirty-minute sets for each performance.

Many believe it sounds too good to be true. Experts and event organizers have weighed in on several logistical and safety concerns. Despite the exciting lineup, it seems unrealistic for so many artists to feature in one day on only three stages. Having the artists playing back-to-back does not provide enough time for set-up and performance checks.

Fans have also expressed worry about the non-refundable ticket policy emphasized by the organizers. Considering the existing doubts about how well the festival will run in the first place, the ticket policy creates even more distrust. Some have connected We Are Young to the scamming catastrophe of Fyre Fest.

In response, some have cited that the organizers are a dependable company. Live Nation is arranging this event, known for its concerts and events. However, as many would recall, they were responsible for the Astroworld tragedy leaving ten people dead and hundreds injured. Live Nation has been accused of negligence and disregarding safety measures, leading to these preventable events.

With ten months remaining until the first day of the festival, there is still hope that We Are Young can shape up to be the event of the year. Ultimately, the safety and enjoyment of the fans is vital for the festival’s success. But whether the festival flops or succeeds, it will make emo history.
