DBHS’ Marching Band is welcoming new members
With many students doing eLearning, most of the events held at school have been canceled or restricted, but little by little, life is going back to normal. The presence of Deerfield Beach High’s lively marching band, having been affected by the restrictions of distancing and not being able to have all members in one place to practice together, has been flourishing.
The marching band is accepting new members, and prior experience is not required. Meetings will be held Tuesdays-Thursdays from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the band room.
Participating in the marching band is not only about playing an instrument. Students can learn leadership skills and responsibilities as Jacorrian Farley, Drum Major and Trombone player, described the devotion he has for the band.
“My favorite part about being a part of the band is learning and playing different genres of music,” Farley said.
For the rest of the 2020-21 school year, the marching band will be working hard and looking to play for a crowd. They have some things planned that students can look forward to in the future.
“Joining Band could really be a life-changing experience for you,” said Farley. “From here, you could take your music career anywhere and do great things. It could even pay for your entire college tuition.”
Although this year has been different for the marching band, they continue sharpening their skills for the upcoming school year. With schools returning to in-person learning, the marching band and other school events will most likely happen with social distancing and the wear of masks still in place.
