Modern Medieval Times

 The Florida renaissance festival

The Florida Renaissance Festival, found in South Florida, is an event held each winter in Deerfield Beach, Florida, at Quiet Waters Park. The renaissance Festival transports visitors back to a century European village*, with knights, royalty, performers, artisans, and characters.

The festival began in 1993, and it has been running for over thirty years. The festival celebrates history, myths, art, and entertainment. It blends Renaissance-era themes with creative elements. The festival shows jousting, lore, and fantasy stories. All of these appear in the village setting.

The festival runs for a total of eight weekends. It takes place on Saturdays and Sundays from February 7 through March 29. The festival runs from 10:00 AM to sunset.

Once inside, visitors can explore a bustling artisan marketplace featuring over 100 vendors. The vendors offer a range of handcrafted goods. These goods include leatherwork, jewelry, costumes, pottery, and more. Festival goers can cheer on live entertainment across multiple stages, including minstrels, magicians, sword fighters, acrobats, and theatrical acts, as well as enjoy exciting jousting matches with knights on horseback.

There is also plenty of delicious food and drink, ranging from giant turkey legs and meat pies to mead, cold ales, and sweet treats. Interactive games and challenges, such as axe throwing, archery, rock walls, and themed contests, keep visitors entertained throughout the day. Every week is a new theme.

Themes this year: Gamemasters Unite – The Campaign Begins (Feb 7-8). Quests, for all. Cupid’s Lullaby – Pulling at the Harpstrings (Feb 14-15) – Romantic and musical flair. A Viking’s Valor (Feb 21-22) – Nordic warriors and mead celebrations. Sirens and Shipwrecks (Feb 28-Mar 1) – Pirate-style fun on the high seas.
