Many movies were released this past summer, some award-winning while others are complete flops. With that comes lots of feedback and opinions.

Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios released Lightyear earlier this year on June 17. The movie is a spin-off of the Toy Story Series but is mainly focuses on Buzz Lightyear, with a few characters from the previous movies. Actors included in the film are Chris Evans, Keke Palmer, and Peter Sohn, who have previously worked with Pixar.

Although many viewers loved the movie, some were not pleased. With a 5.8/10 IMDb rating and 75% of 305 critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s safe to say that the audience had mixed reviews. The box office brought in $225.9 million but with a 200 million movie budget. Many viewers say that the box office “bombed” or “flopped” meaning the company lost money producing the movie.

The plot is taken place in 1976 and revolves around a young preteen, Gru, who dreams of becoming a supervillain. Along his side are Kevin, Bob, and Stuart who are friendly bright yellow minions.

It is the fourth highest-grossing film in 2022 and, the movie became an internet meme overnight. As soon as the film was released, teens began dressing up, cheering, and even throwing bananas in movie theaters, creating the #GentleMinions TikTok trend.

Japanese fantasy, adventure film, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero produced by Toei Animation, was released on June 11th in Japan but on August 19th in America. The film is about The Red Ribbon Army returning from, the main character, Goku’s past, and creating two new androids to battle Goku and his team.
