How to Enjoy Spooky Traditions Safely
The arrival of autumn brings with it beloved spooky traditions and fun-filled celebrations with friends and family. Unfortunately, some exciting festivities may have to be adjusted due to safety precautions caused by COVID-19. However, it is still possible to proceed with traditions safely.
The tradition of trick-or-treating is a predominately outdoor activity, making it easily modifiable to cater to the needs of the pandemic. Participants will have to be willing to incorporate a mask into their costume to prevent contracting illnesses. It may also be helpful to keep a distance from strangers and sanitize candy before consumption. Regardless of these provisions, the century-long tradition can be just as fun as it would be in an average year.
Pumpkin carving is a creative activity to partake in with others. Its lack of difficulty and excessive materials allows it to be done anywhere. Some may enjoy gathering with friends and making a competition out of who can carve the best pumpkin and others may enjoy the activity by themselves. Often, carved pumpkins can be made into Jack-o-Lanterns and put on display outside houses as decoration.
Additionally, it is possible to create an enjoyable venture by obtaining the pumpkins for carving from pumpkin patches. Some notable nearby pumpkin patches are at Pumpkin Towne Pumpkin Patches, the Flamingo Road Nursery, and Bedner’s Farm. Pumpkin patches are great places to take pictures and pick out the perfect pumpkins with loved ones.
Fall festivals and haunted houses are popular options to visit as Halloween nears. They often have scary entertainment and fun rides to enjoy. Two well-known events include Fright Nights and Halloween Horror Nights. While they are quite far, it can be exciting to go with friends and make a road trip out of the experience.
Leading up to Halloween, horror movies are more in demand than at any other time in the year. Some may opt for going to drive-in movies rather than crowded movie theaters. This option is more intimate and allows people to enjoy movies from the comfort of their car with snacks from home. A well-liked drive-in theater is the Swap Shop & Thunderbird Drive-In, which is currently showing horror movies.
For those that desire to watch Halloween movies from their homes, streaming services, such as Netflix and DisneyPlus have great selections for all ages to enjoy. The channel Freeform is an alternative on Cable TV and is playing its annual 31 Days of Halloween, where Halloween movies are shown daily.
While celebrating the season’s traditions, staying safe and healthy is a priority. What truly makes the season special are the feelings of happiness and fun. Thus, it is encouraged to make the most out of the holiday in a pandemic.
