The Billboard Music Awards Hits the Screen
The Billboard Music Awards, or BBMAs, are set to be held on May 15th on NBC at 8 pm. The nominees have been revealed and so have some performers. BBMA followers also have made a handful of predictions on what they might be expecting to see.
The 27th Billboard Music Award show will take place in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. They have many nominations across 62 categories. Nominees such as Doja Cat, The Weeknd, BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, and many more artists.
A handful of performers have been announced. Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Silk Sonic, Rauw Alejandro, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and more are to perform. The BBMAs account on Twitter announced the performers with additional news about the award show.
Grammy-winning R&B duo group Silk Sonic is one of the few that are yet to hit the BBMA stage. The duo group consists of Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak who recently debuted with the hit single Leave the Door Open in March 2021.
May 15th will be the first BBMA performance for some artists but not for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. After 23 years, they’ll be returning to the BBMA stage. For the rest of the performers, this will be their first.
American rapper Sean Combs also known as Diddy was recently announced to be hosting the annual BBMAs. Diddy will be hosting his first BBMA after winning his first billboard award in 1997 for his album No Way Out.
A global sensation, The Weeknd or Abel Tesfaye, leads with the most nominations. Abel is nominated in categories such as top artist, top R&B artist, top male artist, and 14 more. American rapper, singer, and songwriter, Doja Cat trails behind with 14 nominations such as top artist, top female artist, and top R&B artist.
Many fans have made predictions of who will perform and win. People speculate that BTS or Doja Cat will soon be revealed as performers. Many believe that Taylor Swift or Doja Cat will be taking home the top artist award.
But, regardless of the performers, fans are excited to see who wins and the outfits on the red carpet. Thankfully, the show will soon answer all our predictions and expectations.
