Places to visit in South Florida

Explore your State

South Florida is renowned for its beautiful beaches, dynamic culture, and delicious food. Many areas are worth visiting, each with its own unique experience.

One of these areas is Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale. Las Olas Boulevard is a long strip of trendy restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and art galleries. It is located just a few miles from the beach and is the perfect spot for lunch or dinner.

Another popular way of spending the night is in Calle Ocho in Miami. Located in Little Havana, Calle Ocho is one of the largest historically Cuban neighborhoods in South Florida. It is home to the Carnaval Miami festival, which takes place every March, celebrating the lively culture of Miami. Beautiful murals surround delicious Cuban restaurants, cigar shops, bakeries, and music venues.

A trip to Miami is incomplete without visiting the Wynwood neighborhood. This neighborhood is most well-known for the Wynwood Walls. The Wynwood Walls are a rotating collection of outdoor murals and beautiful exhibitions. After viewing the artwork, plenty of restaurants and bars are available.

Another popular attraction is the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in the Coconut Grove neighborhood of Miami. The Vizcaya Museum is a National Historic Landmark dating back to 1916. The museum was initially built to preserve 10 acres of tropical forests in Biscayne Bay and features 32 decorated rooms.

There are plenty of notable areas north of Miami. Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach is a charming street to visit for shopping, dining, and other entertainment. An exceptional motif is the murals of pineapples on display throughout the district, meant to represent Pineapple Grove.

Finally, an afternoon at the Boca Museum of Art is well-spent. The museum is in Mizner Park in Boca Raton. The gallery features an ever-changing collection of artists and artwork throughout the year. Many of them are thought-provoking and pleasant to view, especially with the student discount they offer.

Ultimately, South Florida is an exciting and dynamic area to explore. There is plenty of variety found in the restaurants, nature, and people. It is truly a worthwhile place to be lucky enough to live in.
