Underclassmen Take the PSAT
Each year, over 3.4 million high school students participate in the nationwide Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, commonly known as the PSAT/NMSQT. The PSAT is a multiple-choice test used as a primer for the actual SAT. Although the test is distributed to freshmen and sophomores, all grade levels are eligible to participate.
Deerfield Beach High School will be administering the PSAT on Wednesday, October 13th. All 9th, 10th, and IB 11th graders are scheduled to test. Any juniors who are not in IB and wish to participate must pay $18 through the e-store and sign up in the BRACE office, room 152. Additionally, seniors who need to use their PSAT math score in place of the algebra 1 EOC exam will be testing.
This year, all students must first report to their 5th-period class at 7:40 a.m. to have their attendance recorded. Students will receive a pass from their teachers and an announcement will be made for everyone to relocate to either their testing or holding room. Room assignments are posted in the main mall.
Non-testing students will be kept in their holding rooms from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will not be permitted to visit other classrooms or offices. Parents should call in an excused absence for students that will not be present.
Bell schedules will alter on the testing day. No bells will ring after 8:00 a.m. and until after “B” lunch. Students located in the 900 building, Auditorium, 148, and 163 will be released for “A” lunch from 11 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. All holding teachers and testing room students must report back to the same room at 11:40 until 8th period.
The remaining students will report to “B” lunch from 12:20 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and then move to 8th period. Students that have extended testing time will go to lunch at approximately 1:30 p.m. Click here for the PSAT bell schedule.
