Saluting the Winners

Bucks MCJROTC

Deerfield Beach High School’s MCJROTC- Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps- team participated in the State Competition on Saturday, February 26th, and Gateway High school in Orlando and walked away with a victory in two categories. The team performed and placed first in Color Guard, second in Unarmed Exhibition while a cadet, Paul Williams, placed second in unarmed drill knockout.

The team has put in hours of practice to ensure they are ready for competitions, like this past one. Every Monday through Thursday after-school practice is held in the student parking lot from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

To celebrate their win and show their pride, the winners filled the halls with the green shirts given to them at the competition.

This past competition was not their first this year. The team performed earlier this school year and won 2nd in male / mix armed platoon regulation, 3rd place in female armed platoon regulation, 3rd in female armed squad regulation, and 3rd place in females unarmed platoon regulation.

Though it is only their second competition of the year, it seems to have been their last, with no more upcoming ones scheduled. The Bucks MCJROTC team appears to be ending their competition season on a high.
