Boys’ Volleyball goes to Districts

Deerfield Beach High’s boys’ volleyball team is going to districts. After countless hours of practice, studying the games of other teams’, and working to trust each other on and off the field, the demanding work has paid off.

There were multiple first-time players on the team this year, making their final record of the regular season 6-7 all that more impressive.

Nonetheless, as a new team, many players felt that they played remarkably well in their current circumstances.

“We definitely still have some stuff to work on, but overall, I think we did pretty well,” team captain junior Nolan Debrocq said.

A couple of the most improved players throughout the season were junior middle blocker Diogo Alves and junior outside hitter Judelin Bosse.

One of the more pressing issues the team has noticed this season is their mentality when entering and playing the game. The player’s mindsets during the games often caused them the game because it was not strong enough.

“As a new team, we often let the opponents get into our heads, allowing them to take advantage of the game and win,” Bosse said.

The team has faced many challenges within their own dynamic as well as battling against other strong teams in the district.

Their biggest challenge yet was Western High School. Even so, that was one of the best games the team played, ending with a final score of 3-1. Everyone on the court and bench was coordinated, and they were all able to have fun.

The team’s skill with hitting, serving, and dedication to volleyball helped them pull through as a team to make it to districts. They also made sure to build chemistry off the court in hopes of transferring it onto the court during games.

Going into districts, the players are looking forward to playing Coral Springs High School after losing to them two times during the regular season. They are also making sure that they are studying film and doing intense training to work on some of their weak areas.

“Deerfield Beach High’s boy volleyball team will make their mark this year!” Said Bosse.

The team intends to go all the way winning districts and advance to regionals.
