Expectations for the Wrestling Season
The expectations for the Deerfield Beach High School wrestling team for the upcoming season are high. The team will move forward under Mark Gadson. He has 19 years of coaching experience, and with his knowledge, Deerfield is prepared to be in excellent shape and could potentially reach the state championship match. Some DBHS talented wrestlers included Joel Morissette, who attended Michigan State University, and Zachery Rose, who went to Florida State University.
“Last year’s performance was great I got my first state placer as a coach,” Head Coach Gadson said.
Gadson always had lofty expectations for the new seasons and put much effort into leading his team to the state championship. Wrestling boosts mental toughness and physical fitness, which helps individuals overcome obstacles and face fears. Wrestlers do not just have powerful bodies; they also must have a powerful mind. This will allow them to have quick reactions and calculated movements. In 2022, Coach Gadson ensured that all the wrestlers practiced proper form and techniques, which they put into their matches. With his determination, the Bucks are in the position for a successful season.
“This year I hope to get more kids to the state tournament,” Coach Gadson said
Wrestling is a mentally demanding sport. You must stay calm because the matches can be intense and fast-paced. If you lose control for a split second, your decision and reaction will be slow and sloppy. That is why it is important to keep your composure and not let your emotions get the best of you. This can be easier said than done, especially when facing a tough opponent. One thing that Coach Gadson wishes he had done differently was ‘being more aggressive on the mat.’
