All about SGA
The Student Government Association Club (SGA) is a club designed to foster leadership skills, encourage school spirit, and teach principles to students. At Deerfield Beach High School, Ms. Hills runs the SGA club. It starts at 2:45 and ends at 3:45. For more information, visit room 507. They meet every third Wednesday of the month. The club acts as a voice for students to be heard. SGA can also help students take more responsibility and leadership. The club participates in many fun activities. Such as graduation events, pep rallies, spirit week, prom/homecoming, fundraisers, class trips, etc. Being in SGA also looks good when you are applying for college.
As some thoughts, feelings, and ideas aren’t addressed by teachers and principals, with SGA, you can now be seen. The club includes students from all grade levels, making most of the decisions for school-related events and activities. When you express situations to most adults, they brush it off. However, with SGA, you can have your ideas discussed by students who will understand what you mean and find ways to compromise.
If any students have ever felt like their school is out of touch with today’s latest trends, there’s a way they can keep this school up to date. Students can mention ideas and themes for events like prom or homecoming when they are in SGA and even help with events like spirit week.
The Student Government Association is also beneficial when it comes to learning skills. It teaches students how to be leaders and think for themselves. By having students discuss ideas for the schools and make up ideas for kids in school to keep them engaged and entertained. This also helps students work together and develop communication skills as they work together with each other to produce something and learn how to work with it.
