Expectation for Women’s NCAA D1 volleyball

The excitement is building as the women’s volleyball season is starting, running from August 2025 to May 2026.

Teams across the country are working hard to prove that they have what it takes to be number one. With players returning and fresh talent on teams, many are wondering what these players are doing to get ready.

“I’m most excited to see the new players out on the court and see how well these teams are going to compete against each other and what the outcome will be.” 11 grader Jadden Perdomo said.

With new seasons come new talent and players ready to give it their all. Competition is a big part of D1 volleyball; the rivals go back years. For example, Nebraska and Wisconsin, or Florida State vs Florida. With every season, more people are hopping on the bandwagon.

“Players need to stretch daily to stay in shape and prevent cramps. Players should also stay focused during each practice and work on what they’re weak at so that they can perform at their best during a game.” Perdomo said.

Playing at the highest-level means playing with passion, energy, and the desire to win. Preseason is when these players are getting ready. They train hard, whether it’s conditioning, repetition, or game situations; this is key to having a successful season.

“I have seen this sport increase in popularity and viewership, and this sport is a great sport for all the competitive people who want to play,” Perdomo said.

As the years have gone by and generations come in and out of the college volleyball scene, lots more people have started to support a sport that was once overlooked. Viewership has grown a ton, such as Nebraska having a game on the football field with 93,000 people in attendance. Volleyball is still growing; there is much to expect as we enter the 2025-2026 season.
