The success of the music mogul
Pop artist Taylor Swift had a great run in 2023 and is set to have an even better one this year. With her hitting billionaire status as of October 2023, getting together with football star Travis Kelce, and beginning the next leg of her lucrative Eras Tour, the star has been unstoppable. Her hardcore fandom, “Swifties”, and neutral pop culture connoisseurs are witnessing the phenomenon they’d like to call “Taylor Mania”.
Unfortunately, the Eras Tour will not be returning to the U.S. but, Swift will be performing in some different locations such as Paris, France; Kallang, Singapore; Madrid, Spain; London, UK; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Milan, Italy; Toronto, Ontario; and Vancouver, British Colombia. Sabrina Carpenter and Paramore will also be making appearances at these locations.
The pop star’s name did not stay out of the papers last year with the trendiest headline being her relationship status. During the summer, Swift started dating Kansas City Chief’s tight end Travis Kelce. As expected, with this being a celebrity romance, the couple got a lot of attention. However Kelce’s fans, and fans of football in general, started getting annoyed when Swift was getting more attention at the Kansas City Chiefs games than the players.
“I feel that it’s a normal amount of attention, in my opinion. The camera isn’t always on her; just shows her reaction. I don’t think she should get hate for supporting her boyfriend, if anything people should blame the NFL for showing her too much,” said DBHS sophomore Thiago Codeceira.
She has been getting so much attention that some people suspect that the relationship is a PR stunt.
“I don’t think it’s a PR stunt because it’s just so real and passionate- something you can’t fake,” said DBHS sophomore Yasmin Hussain.
As of May 2024, Taylor and Travis are still together happily so perhaps that rumor is false.
Even after ten albums, re-recording four of them, and going on a mega world tour, the artist still finds time to create new music. During her acceptance speech at the 66th annual Grammy Awards, where she took home her 13th Album of The Year award for her album Midnights, Swift announced she was releasing her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.
This album recently came out on April 19th and after having written about so many aspects of life, people are wondering what this album could be about.
“I think the new album will most likely be about Joe Alwyn because of the title and the fact that she’s been working it out for two years, which is around the time she dated and then broke up with him,” said Thiago.
While the album could be about her ex, some believe it could be a subject Swift has never written about before. “Taylor Mania” has yet to die out with the constant support of the Swifties. Sooner or later this forever artist will continue to steal the hearts of millions of fans.
