Testing Until the End

Senior and final exams

After the busy schedule that was Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), FAST and PERT exams, Deerfield Beach High School’s final exams for student courses will commence the week of the 22nd for seniors, and the week of the 5th for the rest of the student class. Dates for these tests vary between teachers so it’s best to communicate with each subject for a clear agenda.

Exemption forms were given last week to seniors and were due four days later, during the 6th period. Signatures from teachers mean that their test isn’t mandatory to take that day and students don’t have to sit in a room for the remainder of class. On the other hand, exemption forms or bell schedules for underclassmen have not yet been determined. They will be expected soon, and it is encouraged to raise current fourth quarter grades as fast as possible for the chance to be exempt. Of course, only if third quarter grades were an A or a B.

May 29th- June 2nd is the only week students get a break in the middle of EOC’s and finals. This is the perfect chance to pick up the pace and focus on the week after. A student’s final exam grades will determine the acquisition of credits for that course. This second semester can only be passed with either one of these results: a grade higher than an F for both quarters or only one quarter and a passing final test grade.

“I have been studying to prepare myself for that week and I think it’s important to create a routine without stressing or procrastinating,” said DBHS senior Ana Gonzalez.

In less than one week forthcoming, students should be adept at waking up early, getting 8+ hours of sleep, a healthy diet, and having a stable mental capacity. Habits aren’t made overnight, and these are all important factors for a smooth testing session. It would be a waste to pass it up for the alternative of cramming multiple things at once.
