Melanie Martinez’s Trilogy Tour

Melanie Martinez is going on her newest world tour, The Trilogy Tour. Melanie is an alternative/indie singer-songwriter who is well known for her bold visuals in her music videos, distinct sound, and split-dyed hair. She just recently concluded her PORTALS tour on February 6th, in which she performed songs from her album with the same name. However, this time around she is touring, performing her trilogy of albums.

Martinez has three albums, all revolving around the same character, Crybaby, and life cycle. Crybaby, her first album, is mostly about her character growing up and experiencing trauma before her education began. Her second album, K-12, is about Crybaby’s unusual school life. Finally, her fourth and most recent album, PORTALS, is about the death of Crybaby and her rebirth into a new being. She does have a third album called the Afterschool EP, but this album is not a part of the Crybaby storyline, so she will most likely not be performing any songs from there.

The Trilogy Tour begins May 10th, starting in Seattle, Washington. All her shows have been sold out from her first date in May to her 20th show on June 9th, taking place in Toronto, Canada. She currently has two dates available in Florida, including one in Tampa at the Amalie Arena on June 18th and another in Sunrise at the Amerant Bank Arena on June 19th.

“I sadly can’t attend the tour, but Melanie is a great artist. I’m happy to see she’s showing the true story and connections between all her albums. It’s also exciting we might finally see her face again after wearing her mask and prosthetics for the PORTALS era,” said Deerfield Beach High School freshman Christoph Powell.

There has been a lot of controversy revolving around Melanie’s recent look as she’s been using prosthetics to cover her face. Melanie now wears a mask that is pink with four eyes and peculiarly shaped ears. She also wears a pink body suit and wears a lot of earthy clothes. Many of her fans have been divided on this topic, some saying they miss seeing her real face while some do not mind the new look and/or think it is adding to her story. The character she plays has died and been rebirthed as this pink nymph. However, some people have stated their speculation that for the first two albums she is performing, she will be showing her face, which was exciting news for all fans.

With all these amazing artists going on tour this year, Melanie Martinez is a great one to invest in. Her music is unique and has deep meaning that speaks to many people, regardless of gender, race, etc. In the wise words of Melanie herself, “You already bought a ticket and there’s no turning back now.”
