DBHS Girls Water Polo

Athletics and sports are of course very popular and seem to draw a lot of interest from students. Well, of course, the school may have a swimming team, but not just swimming, it is for everyone. For example, not everyone may want to just swim but would prefer to play something such as Water polo. Which provides another competitive water sport but involves more active movement in the pool.

Water polo is a team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team’s goal. There are six players on the field and one goalkeeper on each team. In the end, the team with the most points scored in the other team’s goal wins. Now of course, when you are thinking about what the key could be to winning the game.

“I think we need to work on our swimming stamina the most”. Sophomore Mia Campbell

Now of course, things such as team bonding, as well as other things of that sort are important but focusing on your speed is very important since it determines how fast you can work to help your team.

Also, when asked about the expectations for the season, DBHS water polo team member, Mia Campbell stated, “My expectations weren’t that high because I’m new to the sport and didn’t know much about the sport”. Now this is a very reasonable response, being new to a sport may be intimidating but the experience that one season can give you is still a lot. Overall, the DBHS girls’ water polo team is very hopeful and working on what they need to improve to prepare for their next season.
