Tropical Oasis

Havana nights

Deerfield Beach High School presents this school year’s first dance. The homecoming dance hosted on Saturday, October 21st in the Buck’s Café, is intended to be a wonderful night for all students, from freshmen to graduating seniors, this is a chance to make unforgettable memories.

This year’s homecoming will be themed as Havana Nights. Despite the fall season starting, the Tropical Oasis has services with games, music, and decorations that will emerge students in a tropical paradise.

The dance will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will end at 11:00 p.m. on the dot. Tickets are available on the school’s e-store for 50 dollars. If a student would like to pay in cash, Ms. Hills accepts cash purchases in room 507 located in the 500 building. The rotunda will also be open to sell tickets during lunch on the week of homecoming. No change is accepted so make sure the exact amount of money is being given.

DBHS hasn’t forgotten about the annual coronation of the homecoming royals. Students interested in being crowned Homecoming King, Queen, or Princess and Prince for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors of the tropics can stop by room 507 to pick up a campaign packet.

Although there is no definite dress code other than the optional theme abidance, the Broward County Public Schools’ code of conduct will be enforced. Students can express themselves but must dress accordingly since it is still an official school function.

This fun tropical night is not the only homecoming festivity DBHS has in store. Students should take part in the activities that come before the dance.

A new and updated to the trends Spirit Week starts on October 16th and ends on October 20th. The themes are in the following order: Monday is ‘Bikes vs. Surfers’, Tuesday is ‘Jersey vs. Referee’, Wednesday is ‘Barbie & Ken’, Thursday is ‘Rap vs. Rock’, Friday is ‘Color Wars’. Freshmen will dress in white, sophomores in yellow, juniors in red, and seniors in black.

For sports enthusiasts, the homecoming game will be on October 20th at the J.D. and Alice Butler Stadium located next to the DBHS car loop. The game against the Plantation High School Colonels will kick off at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available on GoFan. Share the buck pride at this game by wearing their class colors and cheering on the bucks.
