Walking to Adulthood

Seniors get ready for Graduation Day

The moment that everybody has been holding their breaths for, June 5th, Graduation Day. Practice for the big day will ensure the event performs smoothly. The rehearsal is May 31st in the gymnasium from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., but the date is subject to change. Students who arrive before 9:00 a.m. can obtain an extra ticket alongside the four tickets per student, making five tickets for one student. Visit the class of 2023 page or Ms. Cruz in room 152 for information on other chances to gain additional tickets.

Walking through the stage should not be done without the company of appropriate style. This year’s cap and gown orders have been through Jostens. Alongside cap and gowns, Jostens provides all additional graduation essentials and apparel like class rings and unique tassels through packages. Cap decorating is also permitted, however, only under specific requirements such as no offensive language or pictures, no 3D objects, as all decorations must lay flat, and nothing that will produce a sound.

All purchased caps, gowns, and tickets will be distributed on June 2nd from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The distribution schedule is based alphabetically on last names. Last names A-C is 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., D-G is 1:00 to 1:30 p.m., H-L is 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., M-Q is 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., R-Z is 2:30 p.m. to

3:00 p.m., and anyone who did not receive their cap and gowns during those specified times can await them from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Textbook obligations are to be returned on this day

After four years, the high school experience will close during Graduation on June 5th. Graduates should arrive at Nova Southeastern University, with free parking, at 6:30 a.m. The doors will open to the public at 8:00 a.m. The ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. There will be a dress code of (comfortable) black shoes and a skirt or dress no longer than the graduation gown for ladies, black shoes, black pants, a white collared shirt, and a dark tie for gentlemen. The graduates will collect their diplomas or certificates, walk on stage, and return to their seats.

After the ceremony, all gowns must be returned, or the graduate will not be given a diploma, so any pictures with it on should be taken beforehand. The caps and tassels may be kept and now belong to the graduate. When graduation is over, everyone will throw their hats, family, and friends will be given deep hugs, and seniors will wave goodbye to Deerfield Beach High School.
