ID Badge

In continuous efforts to ensure the safety and security of all students, staff and visitors at Deerfield Beach High School, everyone on campus will be required to follow the Identification Badge Policy and  Procedures. Students and Staff are to wear 2025-2026 Buck Pride identification badges at all times while on campus or while attending a school-sponsored event.

Expectation for I.D. Badges:

• Must be visible at all times; common methods include using a lanyard around the neck or attaching it with a clip to clothing. The badge should never be in book bags, pockets, or under clothing while on Deerfield Beach High School’s Campus. 
• Cannot be altered in any way, for example, by the use of stickers, markings, or drawings.
• Shall not be improperly duplicated.
• Must be replaced immediately when lost, damaged beyond recognition, or unavailable during the school day:

–  Students are responsible for their I.D. badges. A student who cannot produce their identification card will be sent to get a temporary paper sticker or $5.00 replacement in Student Affairs.

–  A maximum of FIVE temporary paper I.D. badges will be given free of charge before students are issued a $5.00 obligation for their replacement I.D.

–  All staff have the authority to ask students and/or adults to show their 2025-2026 Deerfield Beach High I.D. badge to verify their identity.

–  A student must surrender their I.D. badge to any staff member upon the staff member’s request.

–  Student I.D. badges or schedules are used for each student receiving a meal as they proceed through the breakfast/lunch line.

–  Students will not have any pass privileges (i.e. media center, front office, etc.) if they do not have a 2025-2026 I.D. badge.

–  Any student with unauthorized possession of an I.D. card that does not belonging to them will be subject to progressive disciplinary action.

Guidelines and Procedures
A proper visible I.D. badge displayed on the outermost garment is mandatory for students to come onto and remain on the school campus.
• The first I.D. badge and lanyard are issued to all students free of charge.
• A maximum of five temporary paper sticker I.D. badges will be given free of charge before students are issued a $5.00 replacement I.D.:

• Replacement I.D. badges will be a $5.00 student obligation for each additional replacement. (A lanyard may be given if available.) *Having an obligation may prevent students from participating in school activities.

• Students will be automatically given a temporary paper or replacement I.D. ($5.00 charge for each replacement) if they do not have one when coming into the school campus.
Consequences

Students found not wearing I.D.’s will be subject to the following consequences:

• 1st Offense: Verbal Warning and Temporary Paper Sticker I.D. will be issued

• 2nd Offense: Parent Notification, Temporary Paper Sticker I.D. will be issued

• 3rd or more Offense: Progressive discipline for disobedience/insubordination/defiance through administrative referral process and replacement I.D. issued after the fifth temporary paper I.D. has been given. There will be a $5.00 obligation for each replacement I.D. issued.

FAQs

Q. I have never received an I.D. badge. What should I do?

A. There are two locations to receive an I.D. badge. Visit either of these locations before 7:40 a.m. and/or during your lunch period unless directed otherwise by a staff member.

Q. I lost my I.D. here at school. Do I need to get a replacement?

A. Before requesting a replacement, visit Student Affairs to see if your original I.D. badge was turned in to Loss & Found. If it has not been found, request a replacement at one of the I.D. locations.

Q. I have an I.D. but I left it home.

A. Request a temporary paper sticker I.D. badge from one of the I.D. locations. Continuous issuing of a temporary paper or replacement I.D. will result in an obligation and disciplinary action. See the Consequences section of the I.D. policy

Q. I lost my I.D. here at school. Do I need to get a replacement?

A. Before requesting a replacement, visit Student Affairs to see if your original I.D. badge was turned in to Loss & Found. If it has not been found, request a replacement at one of the I.D. locations.

Q. I have a replacement I.D. that does not have a barcode on it for me to get lunch. What should I do?

A. Go to the front office to have your schedule printed. You will be able to get lunch using the barcode on the printed schedule.
